HapkidoHapkido translated means to co-ordinate energy.
Hapkido teaches the concepts of many martial arts including Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Kendo, etc. combining several hundred self protection techniques with the possibility of more than 10,000 variations including, empty hands against empty hands, empty hands against weapons and weapons against weapons. The three categories include offensive and defensive techniques. During Hapkido training the student will learn self-defense techniques from standing, sitting and lying down as well as against multiple attackers utilizing joint twist and locking techniques, throwing, jumping, striking, kicking, punching, hitting cutting and stabbing techniques. Hapkido also includes the following weapons training in small stick (Tang-Bong), short stick ( Joon-Bong), long staff (Chung-Bong), sword (Mok-kum), bamboo sword (Joock-Do), nunchaku, walking stick, belt/rope, fan, and knife. The Hapkido student uses minimal force to defend himself/herself as Hapkido teaches the student to use circular motion to off balance the opponent making it possible for a smaller person to defend against a larger assailant.
Currently, each new member (membership fee: $65.00) when joining Hapkido MooHakKwan will receive a FREE Hapkido uniform (normally $55.00) and one month FREE training (normally $45.00), membership also includes registration with the Australian Hapkido Federation. martial arts techniques
